Chill Monkeys is all about stylish clothing for the little monkeys in your life. Just because little boys play hard doesn't mean they can't be stylish! We're creating a line of cool, vintage-inspired clothing for hip kids. Starting with our first offering introduced in June of 2010 - the Darwin newsboy style cloth cap. Each season we'll be creating a few new items so that we can offer a full line of great clothes. Each Chill Monkeys item is made with care in Vancouver, BC. Small lots of fabric are chosen with attention to classic style and wearability. We make our clothing in numbered limited editions - creating unique options for gifts and special occasions.

Two years ago, owner/designer Alexis, became mom to a little boy. Suddenly she had reason to notice the lack of great clothing for boys. Amid a wealth of t-shirts with trains, trucks, and licensed characters, she struggled to find classic styles that honoured the little man in her life. Not prepared to turn her child into a walking billboard, she set about creating the kind of clothing she wanted to buy for her son: classic, vintage-inspired looks, with a nod to the style she saw in children's stores while on a pre-baby holiday in Paris. It all started with a hat. Wanting something other than a baseball cap or bucket hat, she sat at her sewing machine and created the Darwin cap. Overwhelming positive comments from friends and strangers, combined with her decision to leave the corporate world while on maternity leave, led Alexis to turn her lifelong love for great clothes and dream of owning her own business into reality: Chill Monkeys.

Chill Monkeys is a company that focuses on the local - everything that goes into our hats is purchased as close to home as possible. We support local, like-minded entrepreneurs in the way we do business. But Chill Monkeys isn't just about business - community is crucial, whether that means donations for silent auctions, time spent volunteering, or financial support for causes we believe in. Every month, 1% of all sales from the Chill Monkeys website will be donated to a different charity. We welcome suggestions for causes to support! This month (October 2010), due to recent events in our extended family, we are supporting the BC Cancer Foundation.
